Volunteer Policies

At JoliDon, our volunteers play a vital role in helping us fulfill our mission of supporting communities and bringing positive change. Volunteers bring enthusiasm, diverse perspectives, and dedication, which greatly contribute to our success. To ensure a productive and supportive experience for both our volunteers and the organization, we have outlined the following policies and guidelines.

1. Volunteer Code of Conduct

All volunteers are expected to:

  • Act professionally: Volunteers should conduct themselves in a professional manner and represent JoliDon positively.

  • Respect diversity: Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and courtesy, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, or background.

  • Maintain confidentiality: Volunteers must keep any sensitive or confidential information they have access to in the course of their duties private.

  • Follow instructions: Volunteers must adhere to the instructions and guidelines given by staff members and supervisors.

  • Be reliable and punctual: Volunteers should honor their commitment to the scheduled hours and inform the appropriate staff member if they are unable to attend.

2. Health and Safety

  • Workplace safety: Volunteers must follow all safety protocols while participating in JoliDon activities. This includes wearing appropriate clothing and using equipment safely.

  • Report incidents: Any accidents or safety concerns must be reported to a staff member immediately.

  • Emergency procedures: Volunteers must familiarize themselves with emergency procedures in the event of a fire, medical emergency, or other urgent situations.

3. Volunteer Eligibility

  • Minimum age: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old unless otherwise specified for certain activities or programs.

  • Background check: Volunteers may be required to undergo a background check, especially for roles that involve working with children, vulnerable individuals, or sensitive data.

  • Commitment: Volunteers should be able to commit to a specific period of time and be reliable in attending their scheduled shifts.

4. Training and Orientation

  • Orientation sessions: All new volunteers are required to attend an orientation session to learn about JoliDon’s mission, values, and procedures.

  • Ongoing training: Depending on the role, volunteers may be required to participate in additional training or workshops to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.

5. Volunteer Benefits

While volunteering at JoliDon is typically an unpaid position, volunteers will receive:

  • Recognition: We greatly value the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and offer certificates, thank-you events, and public acknowledgment for exceptional contributions.

  • Skill development: Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable experience, and expand their professional network.

  • Teamwork: Volunteers will work alongside passionate, like-minded individuals and build lasting friendships and connections.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Volunteers are expected to avoid situations where their personal interests could conflict with the interests of JoliDon. If such a situation arises, the volunteer must disclose the conflict to the appropriate staff member.

7. Volunteer Expectations

  • Responsibility: Volunteers are expected to take responsibility for their tasks and complete them in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Communication: Volunteers should communicate openly with staff and fellow volunteers, asking questions when in doubt and reporting any challenges or issues they encounter.

  • Positive attitude: Volunteers should approach their work with a positive attitude, respecting all individuals and demonstrating a willingness to help wherever needed.

8. Volunteer Termination

JoliDon reserves the right to discontinue a volunteer’s service if they:

  • Fail to meet the expectations outlined in this Volunteer Policy.

  • Engage in inappropriate behavior or conduct that undermines the organization’s values and mission.

  • Are unable to maintain the agreed-upon time commitment.

  • Violate safety regulations or other policies.

In such cases, a meeting with the volunteer will be scheduled to discuss the reasons for termination.

9. Volunteer Feedback

JoliDon values feedback from volunteers and encourages an open dialogue. Volunteers are invited to share their experiences, provide suggestions for improvement, or express concerns with their supervisor or the Volunteer Coordinator. This feedback helps us improve our programs and create a positive environment for everyone involved.

10. Volunteer Privacy

JoliDon respects the privacy of its volunteers. Any personal information collected from volunteers will be used only for the purposes of managing volunteer roles and communications. We will not share personal information with third parties without consent, except as required by law.

Conclusion

Volunteers are the heart of JoliDon, and we are grateful for the time, energy, and passion they dedicate to helping us make a difference. By adhering to these policies, volunteers will help us maintain a respectful, efficient, and safe environment for all involved, ensuring that we continue to make a positive impact on the communities we serve.
